This Privacy Policy explains how ETDETA Logistics Inc. ("ETDETA", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use etdeta.net (the "Site"), our free platform of import tools for U.S. importers. etdeta.net is operated separately from our company website, etdeta.net, which has its own privacy policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account / sign-up. To unlock higher daily usage limits you can register with your email address, which we verify with a one-time code. We do not require a password.
- Freight-quote requests. When you ask for a quote we collect the details you submit — typically your name, email, phone number, company, and shipment / cargo information.
- Tool inputs. The product descriptions, HTS codes, country of origin, values, and any files you upload (e.g. product photos, brand/nameplate or packaging labels, or test reports) that you provide to obtain classification, duty, or compliance results.
Information collected automatically
- Log and usage data. Your IP address, approximate location (such as country or region), browser and device type, the tools and pages you use, and timestamps — through server logs and our own first-party usage analytics, used for security, rate-limiting, and to improve the Site.
We do not use Google Analytics or other third-party advertising or cross-site tracking tools, and we do not sell or "share" (as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act) your personal information.
2. How AI tools handle your inputs
To generate classification and compliance results, the product descriptions and files you submit are transmitted to third-party AI providers (such as Anthropic and Google) that process them on our behalf. These inputs are used to fulfill your request and are not retained in our own application database after processing. Please do not upload information you are not authorized to share, and avoid submitting sensitive personal data — the tools are designed for product and trade information.
3. Cookies and local storage
We use only strictly necessary, first-party cookies and local storage:
- Session cookies to keep you signed in (set only after you sign in; HTTP-only).
- Security — our content-delivery and bot-protection provider (Cloudflare, including Turnstile) may set cookies to protect the Site from abuse.
- Preferences — your light/dark theme choice is stored locally in your browser.
We do not use advertising or analytics tracking cookies. Because we rely only on essential cookies, no opt-in consent banner is required to gate them; you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features (such as staying signed in) may not work.
4. How we use information
- To provide, operate, and improve the tools and your results;
- To respond to your inquiries and freight-quote requests;
- To enforce free usage limits and prevent abuse, fraud, and security threats;
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
5. How we share information
We share information only as needed to run the Site:
- Service providers (subprocessors) who act on our behalf — our hosting provider, our email-delivery provider (for sign-in codes and quote notifications), Cloudflare (content delivery and bot protection), AI providers (Anthropic, Google), and a search/compliance-data provider (SerpAPI).
- ETDETA Logistics Inc. — if you request a freight quote, your request is routed to our team so we can respond.
- Legal and safety — when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of ETDETA, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Tariff and trade data shown by the tools is compiled from public government sources, including the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Federal Register, and the U.S. Census Bureau.
6. Data retention
We keep freight-quote and inquiry information for as long as needed to handle your request and for our ordinary business records; your account email until you ask us to delete it; and log data for a limited period for security and abuse-prevention. We then delete or de-identify it.
7. Your privacy rights (California / CCPA and other U.S. states)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know / access the personal information we hold about you;
- Delete your personal information;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — note that we do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising;
- Non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. You may use an authorized agent where the law permits.
8. Visitors outside the United States
The Site is intended for U.S. importers and is operated from the United States. If you access it from elsewhere, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, which may have data protection laws different from those of your country.
9. Children
The Site is a business tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Third-party links
The Site links to other websites, including etdeta.net. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; please review their policies.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
